Greetings ORWAC members,
I hope everyone had a wonderful 2017-2018 academic year! Marnel Niles Goins ended her term as ORWAC president with an fantastic 2018 Western States Communication Convention in Santa Clara, CA. In addition to a productive pre-conference, we had thoughtful paper and panel sessions, including the ORWAC President’s Roundtable, “Questioning Mindfulness and Moving Toward Inclusion and Justice.” As Marnel begins her term as immediate past president, I would like to thank Katie L. Gibson, our previous immediate past president, for her service to the organization. We are also grateful to welcome Ruth L. Hickerson as the new ORWAC vice president and Megan Cullinan as the new graduate student representative. You can find the full business meeting notes in this newsletter.
Please plan to join us February 22-25, 2019 at the Western States Communication Association Convention in Seattle, WA. The call for papers is in this newsletter. If the location isn’t inducement enough, I encourage you to join us for the productive conversation, generous top paper awards, fun reception, and productive business meeting.
